About the Coptic Church
Archangel Michael & St. Mena Coptic Orthodox Church was established in Staten Island, NY in 1982 AD by Late Hegomen Fr. Wissa Bessada.
The church is part of the NYNE Diocese, which was officially established in 2013 by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.
The foundation of the Diocese was planted in the mid-1970s when numerous Coptic families emigrated to the United States from Egypt under the leadership and guidance of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III.
The time came in 2013 for the official establishment of a Diocese under the auspices of His Grace Bishop David.
